SHEARERS’ DISPUTE

CONFERENCE RESULTLESS. [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, August 19. Mr Nicliolson, representing) the employers, stated before the Arbitration Court to-day that the conference held at Napier between the Sheep Owners’ Association and the Shearers’ Union had proved abortive. The shearers leek the attitude that they were net prepared to accept less than last year’s rates. Mr Nicholson asked the court to fix an early date for the hearing of the dispute at Wellington. The court tentatively fixed September 12.
