(Received July 14, at 10 a.m.) In the match for the Davis Cup preliminary between Australia and Czechoslovakia, at Roehampbon, Patterson (Australia) beat Rohrer, 6-1, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2; Anderson (Australia) beat Ardolt, 7-S, 6-4, 5-4. Owing to rain the Australians consented to meet the Czechs on hard courts. Both matches were played simultaneously. - Patterson easily outclassed Rohrer, whose win in the third set was due to the Australian casing up. Ardelt offered a better fight. •He is a good back-line driver’ and a sporting fighter.
