EVEREST CLIMB
WEATHER PREVENTS THIRD ATTEMPT. Press Association—By Telegraph—'Copyright, LONDON, July 12. (Received July M, at 1.15 a.m.) A statement by the Mount* Everest Committee, based on the news contained in a letter from General Bruce, dated Juno 1. from Rongbuk Glacier Camp, expresses the opinion that the breaking of the monsoon on June 5 prevented a third attempt at the time planned, but it is possible that a portion of the party waited on in the hope that tho breaking would prove only a forerunner of the Chota Bersat, leaving possibly a. week or ten days of fine weather before the early climbing season is definitely over. It seems that General Bmoc considers that the party is too exhausted 1 to make another attempt in the meantime. The committee concludes that the absence of telegraphic news is due to a- mishap tc the post runner.
