WASHINGTON, May 13.

The Government intends to investigate the reason for several recent increases in the price of petrol. During the past six weeks prices have risen 1 cent per week, and petrol is now selling at 29 to 31 .cents per gallon. The Department of tho Interior Bays that farther increases amounting to 5 cents arc expected by the middle of dime. The vast surplus stocks make the increase difficult to understand;.-—A and N.Z.
