CAPE TOWN, May 13,
In the course- of hie evidence before the Martial Law Commission, Colonel Beer, Deputy-Commissioner of Police in the Free State, stated that during the progress of tho strike secret meetings were held all over the Free State which was addressed by speakers from the Band. The situation became very serious, as commandos were projected, several places only waiting for the-word to rise. A woman organised tho commando at Bloemfontein, but tho magistrates, together' with Mr Sortzog, quashed the movement. —A, and N,Z. Came
