RISE AND SHINE. Tho annual meeting of the Rise and Shine Gold Dredging Company, Ltd., will bo held on Monday.* The directors' repovt states: l (1 or tho past twelve months the dredge has worked with but little loss of time, hut unfortunately, without winning sufficient .gold to meet expenditure, which has been fairly heavy, because of tho necessity for providing a number of new main buckets and a bottom tumbler. The returns having below a payable point, it was decided in the first week of April to stop work, effect repairs that could! not be longer delayed, and then take the dredge to the lower end of the claim, where tho dredgemaster proposes to open out a cut that he feels reasonably confident will give payable returns. The dredge began work there on April 27. When the accounts wore closed there was an. available cash surplus of about £650; but the unprofitable 'week’s work at the beginning of April and the cost of now parts and of repairs since then have reduced this to about £450. A dividend of a shilling per share was paid during the ypar.
