BLAZING OIL
FIRE AT PETROL DISTILLERY. FINE WORK BY BRIGADES. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright, LONDON, April 26. (Received April 28, at 12.5 a.m.) Forty lire brigades fouglifc a firo at the C.apcl Leonards petrol distillery at Hackney wick. Lorries were requisitioned to throw tons of sand on the blazing oil. Tho Haines shot hundreds of feet into the air as the oil tanka became involved. Neighboring houses and factories were evacuated, the inhabitants fearing explosions. The firo was eventually controlled, only the still house being gutted. Fifty tanks, each holding 5,C00 gallons, which were within tho works, escaped.—Renter.
