Tho monthly meeting of the N.E. Valley branch ot the Women's Christian Temperance Union was held in the institute yesterday afternoon. The president (Mrs Peart) presided over the meeting, taking' for her Scripture, reading Isaiah vi. She gave a helpful address, emphasising the need far personal effort in temperance and other good work. After discussion ot various matters of interest the president gave a brief outline of her visit as a delegate to the recent convention. She spoke in glowing terms of the delegates’ reception in Hamilton, and of the warm interest taken in the temperance cause in the North Island. It was decided to hold over her report in detail till the next meeting (an evening meeting) to enable a number of young members of tho branch to be present.
