CHURCH FUNCTIONS
ROSLYN METHODISTS. On Sunday tho Roslyn Methodist Church celebrated Hie reopening of the building. Tho entire structure hao been altered and beautified at considerable cost by the firm of Fletcher Bros. Tho front of the church is adorned with a Gothic spiro of appropriate proportions, and the interior appointments are attractive. The pulpit is of Gothic design, and the Communion rail and table are neatly constructed. The reopening dedicatory services were conducted by the Revs. T. Pybus, C. Eaton, and AI. A. Rugby Pratt. Tho choir, under the leadership of Air J. Patctfion, L.A.8., rendered several appropriate anthem.?, and Airs H. Burrow rendered the eolo ’ Fear Not, Ye, O Israel.’ The reopening sacred concert was held on Wednesday evening, when the chair was taken by Air W. 0. AlhVutt, who outlined the early hifdorv of the church. The united choirs of tho lioslvn Afethodiot and the Alaori Hill Presbyterian Churches rendered several anthems in good style. WELCOAIE TO REV. 11. L. RICHARDS. Tho Cargill Road Methodist Schoolroom was crowded last niglii,. when a welcome was extended to the Rov. H. L. Richard.?, who has succeeded the Rev. R. Radio as minister of the church. Mr J. B. Shacklock (circuit steward) presided. Short addresses of welcome were given by the chairman, tho Rev, M.. A. Rugby Pratt (chairman of the district), Mr D. C. Cameron (local preachers), Ah' AV. AV. Ashby (Sunday school), and Air A. T MTndoe (church). In responding to tho welcome, Air Richards paid a tribute to the work of Air Eaino. He was grateful for the warm welcome extended to himself and Mro Richards, and hoped that pastor and people would work together for tho extension of God’s kingdom. During the evening musical items were provided. and the ladies of the congregation supplied refreshments. OLENAVEN METHODISTS. The Olcnavrii Methodist Church held its anniversary lea and social on Wednesday evening. A goodly number of members and friends gathered for the lea, which was much appreciated by all who participated. Tho ffiicial which followed was well attended, and took the, form of a welcome to the Rev. Leslie A. Brooks, who hjs just been appointed to the charge of the Glenaven and Wcodhaugh Churches. A fine programme of musical and elocutionary items delighted tho audience, ns was evidenced by the hearty applause and numerous encores. Speeches of welcome were made to the Rev. L. A. Brooks by the Rev. M. A. Rugby Pratt (chairman), Afessrs E. Aelin, P. Williams, and S. Alaefarlanc, ALA., as representatives of tho various branches of tho church and circuit work.
