The Governor’s Speech will be delivered later in the session, when Sir George Fuller has put the final touches on his programme. GETTING TO WORK. SYDNEY, April 27. (Received April 27, at 10 a.m.) Parliament sat throughout the night. A Bill to reduce the salaries of Ministers and members was withdrawn in consequence of interjections from both sides of the House. The Bit! will be brought back with amendments later. TREASURE R’S STATEMENT. AN UNWELCOME LEGACY. SY'DNEY, April 27. (Received April 27, at 10 a.m.) In the Assembly the Treasurer (Mr Cocks), speaking of the State’s finances, said that the previous Government , had left ns a legacy a deficit ranging from £5,000,000 to £6,000,000. PREMIER’S BIG SCHEME. CABINET APPROVES. SYDNEY, April 27. (Received April 27, at 9.20 a.m.) Cabinet approved of proposals by Sir Goorgo Fuller for the extension of country developmental work, in which lie is seeking the co-operation of the Federal Government. They include the preparing of lands for settlement, training farms, and irrigation schemes, which will provide work for the unemployed and for immigrants. Special attention is being directed to the Murray Valley lands in New South Wales and the Crown lands between the Great Northern Railway and the North Coast Railway, also hydro-electric schemes at Burrinjuck and the Clarence River. Sir George Fuller is .seeking to secure an agreement with the Government and, if necessary, the British Government to finance the scheme. STATE ENTERPRISE?. SYDNEY, April 26. In taking over the control of 'State mterprifcs which, as part of tho scheme jf economy, have been transferred from a separate department to a branch of the public Works Department, Sir Thomas Donley, Minister of Works, said that tho policy" of tho Government was to oncourage private enterprise in every way. He foreshadowed a review of tho whole State enterprise scheme on strictly economical lines, securing the highest standards of efficiency and full value for any expenditure which might be sanctioned. The reductions of staffs wore indicated.
