NEW COMPANY FORMING. NEW ZEALAND GLASS WORKS, LTD. When tho official figures of tho annual imports of glassware into this dominion aro consulted some idea is gleaned ot the bright future in front ot tho New Zealand Glass Works. Ltd., a company that is now forming to manufacture in the dominion all classes of glass, ware, including sheet glass, jam jars, bottles, etc. In 1920 over £600,000 worth of glassware came to this country from overseas. Of that sum plain empty bottles alone amounted to over £125,000. So beyond question there is an important ready market in this country that will absorb all the glassware that' the new company can manufacture for many- years to come. This view is endorsed hy tho fact that among the initial subscribers to the capital of the company aro such men as Alex. Duncan, manager of Ward's Brewery: Thomas Madden, secretary of Staples’ Brewery; J. R. Hayward, managing director of Hayward Bros., pi cldc and vinegar manufacturers; T. R. Quill, Quill, Morris, whio and spirit merchants; and J. A. Rcdpafch, of Christchurch. Many industries aro vitally interested in the bottle question ; in fact, the present high freights and losses through breakages are virtually strangling many businesses—and tho new company IP practically a popular movement that is assured support from all users of glassware, ’lire capital of the proposed company is £150,000, divided into 150,000 shares of £1 each. The minimum subscription for going to allotment is -35,000 shares.

The Canadian loan was subscribed in New York within three hours.
