VOW TO GIVE AWAY FORTUNE
Colonel A. Humphreys, one of the oil magnates of Colorado, has begun to carry out a project for giving the whole of his wealth to humanitarian and philanthropic schemes. This, he says, is in fullment of “ n bargain lie struck with God,” when he was believed to be dying. “I pledged myself,” ho explains, “ that, if God will grant me an extension of life, I shall give all I have, and all I shall make in the future, to the forwarding of His glory through helping His children. I did not agree to give a tithe, nor a part of what I have. I agreed, to give all, and I a.m giving all.” Each member of the colonel’s family is well provided for, ami ho feels at liberty to use his .money as he thinks best.
Ho believes, he says, that a man or woman, no matter how down and nut cither may seem to be, can be reconstructed and brought back. To this end ho has assisted in the establishment of missions in various parts of tho country.
