VALEDICTORY

At the Filled Street Church of Christ on Tuesday evening an agreeable social function was held to say good-by© to Mr Chas. Waterhouse, who has been for the past twelve months acting in tho capacity of temporary preacher, and. who is now about to undertake organising wort'throughout the Dominion on behalf ol tho Now ‘ Zealand Evangelistic Association, with which tho Filled Street Church is affiliated. Tho occasion was also utilised to welcome Mr J. M'Kellar, wno has come from Melbourne to bo its permancu evangelist. Tho chair was occupied' by Mr George Lawrence,_ who spoke ol the almost insuperable difficulties they had had to face from time to time, and ol the solid footing tho church work was now placed upon, thanks to the nnromi thing labors and organising genius of Mr Waterhouse. They could now look forward to a period, of prosperity and now life, and he trusted that tbs incoming evangelism would receive the hearty co-operation and .resistance of al! the members. Mr M Kol)ar and Mr Waterhouse suitably responded to tho felicitations of tho evening, t.is latter thanking tho church lor tha many tokens of appreciation and good-will he had received during h« ministry m Dunedin. Mr Waterhouse was presented with a beautifully-inscribed gold watch. In handing it over the chairman desired Mr Waterhouse to accept it as a sma.l expression of tho esteem in which ho was held in tha Fillsul Street Chorea for In* work's sake. Mi E. Hilliker, a mono Wno and a song by Mrs u Lawmioo, and »• recitation by Marjorie .vundge made an entertaining a coffee supper closed enjoyable proceedings.
