TAUMARANUI, March 16,
'A memorial to Mr H. E. Girdlestono, F.R.G.S., was completed on Mount Ruapehu on March 12. Two attempts mado last year to erect tho memorial failed owing to climatic conditions Tho work of erection was performed by eight of Mr Girdlestono’s comrades, who were associated with him in mountaineering.
