MEETING OF CREDITORS

The adjourned meeting of creditors in the estate of Edwin Gretton Mackenzie, salesman, was held this morning before Mr G. W. Brown, Acting Official Assignee. On the previous occasion the bankrupt had failed to put in an appearance. He appeared this morning. The total liabilities were stated) at £153 12s W, and there were no assets. Mr Brown said that since the previous meeting bankrupt had been summoned before the Supreme Court, and was fined £lO, in default three months' imprisonment, for failing to appear at that meeting. In reply to Mr L. D. Wilson, bankrupt said l that he did. not receive £1 per week for the rent of a stable; the building did not belong to him. He denied, further, that he did any betting. To Mr E. J. Smith; His approximate earnings were £5 per week, and he was not in a position to make any offer. He had paid £5 of his fine, and this he had borrowed. Mr Smith and other creditors expressed the opinion that an offer should be made by bankrupt. Mr R. D. W T ilsonand Mr W. J. Harridgo seconded that bankrupt's discharge be opposed until the creditors receive a sum representing 15s in the pound. Mr Cole suggested that the matter be left in the hands of the Official Assignee to oppose or otherwise the bankrupt's discharge after looking into the accounts. The motion as moved by Mr Wilson was, however, carried.
