SOLICITOR ADJUDICATED BANKRUPT
(Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, September 14. A meeting of clients and creditors of Hammond and Cracknel!, solicitors, was held on September 1. Eighty persons were present, and Arthur Oracknell, tho surviving partner, slated that tho firm’s liabilities were- £45,000, and their assets between £25,000 and £30,000. This statement was repeated to Mr Justice Adams at the Supremo Court to-day by David Kay, land agent, when giving evidence in support of his petition to have Crackncll adjudicated a bankrupt. There was no appearance on behalf of the debtor. Kay deposed to a cheque which ho received from the firm having been dishonored, tho issue of a writ, and judgment a few hours before Hammond died. At tho creditors’ meeting Crnckneli stated that he joined the firm in 1914. Cracknell then stated that the firm was insolvent. His Honor made an order adjudicating the dchlor a bankrupt.
