At tho annual meeting of tho Port Chalmers Rowing Club yesterday evening it was decided to add Mr J. Glengarry’s name to the list of life members of tho club. This was done, tho chairman stated, in recognition of Mr Glengarry’s qualities as a club member, an oarsman, and a sport. Colonel Young, 0.0. Southern Military' District, and Brigadier-general Sir Donald M'Gavin, D.G.M.S., arrived from tho north yesterday. Bishop Cleary, of Auckland, was a passenger for London by tho Riiimtako, which left Wellington yesterday. Mr C. E. Stathara, M.P., loader of tho National Progressive and Moderate Labor Party, left this morning for Invercargill. Mr W. IT. Johnston, who has been promoted from foreman at the Potbne Railway Workshops, to-day took up his duties as manager of the Hillside Workshops. Mr Sidney Wolf has coma back from Gisborne, whither he went to judge at the competitions, and he his duties as conductor of the Dunedin Choral Society at tho practice last night. In his absence the practices were taken by Mr Leslie Borrow. Mr Peter Cameron leaves to-morrow on a business visit to the Old Country. He expects to return in about four months’ time, Air Be Spong left by tho first express this morning to adjudicate at the South Canterbury competitions.
