BUTTER AND CHEESE. Messrs Dakreiy and Co. report having received the following cable from their Aielbourne office dated April 22 ; —Butter market slow, demand irregular: prices for Government stocks unchanged, except first grade; second, grade Australian advanced to £l2 10s on April 16 owing to buyers purchasing large stocks to provide againsl possible strikes. Doubtful whether prices can bo maintained. Danish official quotation £l2 16s, £l3 10a ; but there are free sellers at £l2 16s, and stored parcels offered at £l2 ss. Cheese market linn, fair demand: New Zealand colored £7 16s, £8 2s, white £6 ,14s, £7 2s. Stocks small, but plentiful ; arrivals expected. Prices may then decline. Tho 1001 h appropriation of £SOO in (he No 3 group was sold at a premium of £ls per cent. Tho twenty-first appropriation of £SOO in No. 4 group was disposed of by ballot, No. ]l9, held by one shareholder, being drawn.
