STEWARDS* STRIKE BREAKS! NOTICES WITHDRAWN. It was reported locally this afternoon, that the stewards, on both the Maori and_ the Wahine ha.i withdrawn their notires, and tins is confirmed by the fchowing message from Wellington:— 11 Mr Kennedy, manager of the Union Company, announced at 2 o'clock that he had received an inthnation from the Cooks an: 1 Stewards’ Union that instructions had been given to the men to withdraw all notices to leave, and to resume duty. The question of wages is left over until after tire holidays.” An earlier Wellington message states that passengers who arrived by the Maori state that they experienced no inconvenience owing to the lack of stewards. They had early-morning tea and a light breakfast. The Wahine sails to-night, but passengers will have to shift for. themselves. The Arahuras trip to Lyttelton oa Friday 13 abandoned.
