, ■ » WAIHI. The Waihi Gold Mining Company, during: the period ended March 20, crushed and treated 13,742 tons of ore for a return of 4,2780z of gold and 23.7540;; of silver. Taking the-gold at the British mint, valne;—namelv. £4 5s per oz, this works out at £lß.lßl, while, basing the silver on the latest price quoted for'that metal in London—namely. 6s per oz—■ the value of this is £7,126. This gives a total return for the period of £25,307. Compared with the return for the corrn.sponding period of last year, when 15,065 .tons yielded £24.523, this 'shows an increase of £784. The total amount won from the mine to date is £12,651,333. The following information has been cabled to the head office of the company in London: —No. 9 level, Empire lode", north section: The drive east from the Power north-west cross-cut has been extended from 90ft to 121 ft. This width of the lode is about sft, and the value 21s 9d a ton. Xo. 10 leval, Empire lode, north section 1 The drive west from Soldier's cross-cut has been extended from 58ft to 76ft.
