OTAGO HOCKEY ASSOCIATION. The 10th annual report of the Otago Hockey Association states: "The competition proved the keenest since 1915, no fewer than eight teams competing for the M'Lean Cup. Two new clubs were formed at the opening of the season—Port Chalmers and Technical College Old Boys—and both give promise of extending their operations to a number of teams. Both clubs pulled along under great difficulty, but this year they are firmly established. An attempt was made to run a returned soldiers' club, but this was finally deemed inadvisable. The M'Lean Cup was again won by University A team, who went through the season losing only two points in drawn, games against Training College and Union. Union Club were close as runner-up, with Training College third. Th» senior seven-aside tournament had to be abandoned, after a wet day spoiling ihe possibility of it being played off. No Interprovincial matches were played locally, but Otago challenged for the N.Z. Hockey Shiejf A team were despatched by motor cars .to Christchurch, but sustained defeat from Canterbury by seven goals to nil. At the peace celebrations a soldiers eleven defeated an Otago team at the Caledonian Grounds, after an exciting exhibition, by five goals to four. The primary schools' matches produced keen competition for the banner, Macandrew Road defeating Albany Street A in . the final play-off, and wresting the banner from Albany Street School for the first time in four years. In the schools' sevenaside Macandrew Road also ran out winners. The Williamson Cup for secondary schools' competition was won by Technical College B, five teams competing. The seven-aside secondary schools was won by Technical College Old Boys. The financial position of the association shows a credit balance in bank' and in hand of £ls 13s 3d.
