TERRITORIALS.

• [By Skirmisher.} . RIFLE MEETING. The Otago district rifle meeting was held on the Pelichet Bay range on Tuesday (Anniversary Day). The day broke fine and conditions promised well, but towards the afternoon a fairly stiff breeze aprang up, and the weather became somewhat cold. In spite of this, however, some good shooting was done. The entries, though not as large as was hoped, numbered 163, series A, B, and C carrying 33, 58, and 72 respectively. Twelve competitors came from Oamaru, three each from Balclutha and Gore, two from Wedderburn, and one each from Invercargill and Dunback. The arrangements for carrying out the meeting Were good, and a special effort was made to pay oufc the prize-money promptly. It may bo mentioned in this connection that the prizes were available within 10 minutes of the firing of the last shot in each match, and no competitor neod have left the range without his money. In spite of this, however, a number did so, and it will be well • for them to note that unless they put in their claim on or before Wednesday, 31st inst., the money will be forfeited.
