The Prime Minister left hospital last night to go to his home. He will have to remain quiet for at least another 'week —probably longer. Alter all, Mr Massey spends his birthday with his family. Mr Cecil Mason, New Zealand representative for the Fox Film Corporation of America, arrived from Australia yesterday on a tour of inspection of the Dominion. The. resignation of Sir James Allen as member for Bruce in the House of Representatives has been gazetted. ..Mr L. F. F.vaus, secretary of the local Central Labor Oilico, has resigned his position, ajid it is understood that the resignation has been accepted with regret by the Board of Control. Professor P. W. Robertson, who is to succeed Professor Easterrield in the chair of chemistry at Victoria College, arrived from Sydney by the Climaroa on Monday. Mr Robertson, who was the first Rhodes scholar from Wellington, is the son of Mr Donald Robertaun, Public Service Commissioner. L>r J. \V. Hall has been appointed senior house-surgeon, and Uis H. K. Christie and H. J. Colvin junior house sureeon* at the Hospital. Mr Fa Page, S.M., has been appointed chairman of the North and South Island Rahwav Appeal Boards. Mr W. J. Croft (manager of the firm of John E. Butler, Ltd.). who is about to leave Dunedin on a visit to the Home Country, was the recipient of a goldmounted walking-stick yesterday from his fellow-members in the' Dunedin Bowling Club. Referring to Major-general Sir Alfred Robin, Actum Administrator at Samoa (who returns by the Mokoia), the ' Samoa Times' says i " There is no more popular personage in Samoa than General Robin, to whom the whole community has becomo attached. . . . There is no single institution in Samoa, which has not received a kindly and interested visit from him, and the innumerable courtesies he has extended to all with whom he has come in contact leave the feeling that iio las conw amongst us and conquered. . . , Sir Alfred Robin has proved himself tjio jalvor of many of our plaints, and the result to-day is that Samoa, with all its wounds, .is a happier community than it has been for years. . . . The peneraFs ail too brief sojourn among us has sx-en so full of thoroughly useful work that every member of the community will be sorry to see him depart." Mr t'obort Triggs, Public Trustee, acc.irananied by the secretary to the Public Trust Office Board (Mr- J. Snell), is at present visiting Dunedin on departmental business.
