I In trade circles here (telegraphs the ''Daily Chronicle's' Huddersfield correspondent) it is stated that a committee of dye users have been sent to Germany on behalf of the British Government to "purchase large supplies of fine dyes for the use of the British consumers. The committee are authorised to epend £1.500,000 to £2,000,000 in that way. The committee, I who have prone under the authority of the I Board of Trade, include representatives of, the Trade and Licensing Committee of the Board of Trade, as well as expert users eutraged In. the cotton and woollen textile and the paint and varnish trades. Dyes which the committee will purchase will be in addition to the amount of 1,500 tons to which British users are entitled under the reparation clauses of the Peace Treaty. From a, census of stocks of dyes in Germany it has been ascertained that there were about 22,000 tons, of which 6.500 tons are due to the Allies. SHARE MARKET MOVEMENTS. Auckland. —Sales on 'Change! Soutli British, £9 10s: Auckland Gas Co., 17s 4d. Sales reported: Union Bank, £ls 7s 6d. The Canterbury Ram Fair opened yesterday, when flock rams wero sold. The entry was 5,400, an increase of 500 en last year's figures. There was an exceptionally keen demand for Corriedale and half-bred rams, the former selling at up to 30 guineas, as compared with 8-igs last year, and the latter to 12|gs, as against 6|gs. The prices for these classes were an outstanding feature of the fair. English. Leicesters, which formed about half the total entTy, sold well tip to 14gs, but the wants of suppliers were not equal to the entry, and values subsided before tho finish. There was also an O'Ver-supply of Romneys, the top price of which was 14gs. The Border Leicester sale was patchy, at up to Bigs, whilst Linoolns, Southdowns, and Shropshires were out of favor, the best prices being 4gs. sAgs, and 7gs respectively. Messrs John Reid and Sons sold at auction yesterday a property in the Wakari district consisting of about 9£ acres, with house snd steading. There was spirited bidding, and the property was finally sold to Mi* Brinsdon for £1,260.
