ST. KILDA COUNCIL

The monthly meeting of the St. Kilda Borough Council was held in the Council Chambers last night, the Mayor (Mr A. D. Edgar) presiding over a good attendance of councillors. CORRESPONDENCE. The Town Clerk (Dunedin) wrote intimating that in connection with the Prince of Wales's visit to Dunedin the City Council had agreed to contribute £I,OOO to the fluids needed to defray the costs of the celebrations, and that the surrounding boroughs were invited to subscribe on a pro rata basis, St. Hilda's contribution being £84.--It was decided to. accede to the council's request. The Workers Educational Association wrote thanking the council for placing the Council Chambers at their disposal.—Received. In connection with this matter Messrs V. C. Triggs and F. E. Jones (representatives of the Workers' Educational Association) waited on the council and placed the scheme before them, and asked their help and support, and it was decided to support the movement. The assignee of the 80-Prep Picture Enterprise Company wrote asking the council to make an offer for the ticket-box. screen, operating box, and small ticket-box which were to be disposed of, and which were at present in the Coronation Hall, St. Kilda. —Received, and the clerk to write to the assignee drawing attention to the terms of the previous agreement. A communication was received from Messrs Hislop, Lang, and Paterson (for Mr A. Eilgour) asking that the law be enforced with regard to the elderberry on Mr MorrelTs property in Cutten street.— Resolved that the by"-]aw be enforced. Mr XV. Mattingley wrote resigning his position as dustman and ranger.—Received, and the resignation accepted with regret, and, if wanted, a letter of reference be given.
