INFLUENZA
SCHOOLS REOPENING POSTPONED • la i esfc notifications of fresh cases indicate that the incidence of the disease If- , :'?f decreasing in Dunedin and suburbs. Notifications, of course, have to he discounted by such factors as individual promptitude in giving notice. Manv of tile notifications now coming in may refer to week-end cases. In any case, a slight upward tendency does not necessarily mean tnat the epidemic is increasing iii virulence. As a matter of fact, it retams its comparatively mild type. The total of fresh cases notified is 102. There are 52 cases in Dunedin Hospital, six ot which are pneumonic—none cf them new cases.
The position to-day justifies the decision made yesterday to keep the schools closed till the end or next- week at least. An intimation appears elsewhere that by direction of the Health Officer the opening of John M'Glasban College is po.stp:iiicd till further notice.
