SCHOOL COMMITTEE

The Musselburgh School Committee met on Tuesday evening. Mr Jacobsen presided, further correspondence was received from the Education Board in connection with the Soldiers' Memorial at Musselburgh, containing <i reply from the Education Department, static*: the purposes for which subsidies would be proTided. It was decided to obtain further information before calling a meeting of aouseholders. A Teply in connection with the price list of school books was received. The I>unedin and Suburban School Comsaitees' Association wrote stating that the plan outlined by the committee in charge «f the children's section of the Peace Celebrations would be sent on to each committee, and asking for whole-hearted support. The committee agreed to give every assistance possible. The- head, master's report stated that there were- 657 pupils on the roll, and the average attendance was 592 for th 3 kst quarter. The bank "was well patronised, the deposits for June being £23 8e 3d, leaving a balance of £232 10s sd. The school was pleased to welcome back a returned soldier (W. Anderson), who was admitted on the ,opening day in 1906. Messrs Allen, Fish, and Stuart were appointed a*" Visiting Committee for July.
