PORTOBELLO ROAD BOARD
Tho monthly meeting yesterday afternoon was attended by Messrs H. Allen (chairmaw), Rowland, Bewley, Moss, Kinkley, Bowles, Hall, and Sawle. Tho Coronation Hull Committee submitted) a plan of proposed' alt-orations to the hall, and asked permission to go on with the same.—Mr Bowles said the alterations would i.ot cost tho board anything, as tho committee would' raise tho money required.—Permission granted. Mr L. O. Beal, engineer, reported that Mr Henderson's contract for improving the Abbotsford-Doone road at Wavsrley was not quite completed in respect to some minor details. —A letter was also received from a local resident criticising unfavorably tho improvements in question.—The members of the subdivision to interview the engineer and inspect the word done. Mr J. Bishop, clerk, Peninsula Road Board, wanted to know if tho Portohello Road Board would co-operate with the Peninsula Board- in tho matter of a proposed electric light scheme, tho suggestion being that the lighting power be laid along tho Upper Portohello road.—Resolved to co-operate. Eight ratepayers of North-east Harbor wrote asking that tho Collinswood road he improved..—-Matter to be attended to. The Qtago Motor Club asked the board to send -a representative to tho forthcoming conference in referencs to getting better roads for the Dominion.—Chairman to attend. The board decided that the rates would he the same for the ensuing year 33 for the past year—viz., lid in the £ on all rateable property in the district.
