ORPHANS’ CLUB
Bro. F. 0. Bridg-eman presided at the fortnightly meeting of tho Dunedin Orphans’ Club held last night, when there was a- good attendance of 'member* and visitors. After the National Anthem and tho club's opening ode had been sung, the Chairman referred to tin- signing of tin© Peace Treaty, and expressed the hopo that theevening woaild he an especially jovial one. Bio. Bridgeman, as United States Consul for Dunedin, also referred to the good fellowship existing between the Yankee and the British bluejacket*, _ and quoted Admiral Sim as* having said- that tho American sailor hold no delusion* as to how the war was won and by whom-. Ho gave ail tho credit to the men manning Britain’s fighting ships. An attractive programme had been arranged for the entertainment of members, the following contributing:—Club orchestra (under Bro. Hilmer Davie), Bros. IV. Gan', C. W. Hannah, S. D. (Neill, P. J. Blackman, and Captain Zeislcr (songs). Bios. C. H. Russell (recitation), A. Nokon (bass solo). J. Wren. W. H. Didsbury (stories). Paul Reno gave a clever exhibition of juggling.
