MINISTER ACTS PROMPTLY. EXPERIMENTAL FARM AUTHORISED. KB-GRASSING TO BE STUDIED. A SCIENTIFIC MAN ENGAGED. Mr J. M. Dickson, M.P., ha-s received the following letter from the Minister of Agriculture: With reference to the deputation introduced ,by you wliich waited on me when in Dunedin recently with regard to the matter of establishing an experimental farm in Otago, I have to inform you that tho request made baa already been met by arrangements having been made for operating an experimental area of 100 aores at Galloway, In Central Otago. In addition to this, experiments are in train for carrying on some special experimental work: in Central Otago in connection with the re-grassing of depleted areas, Further, one of the scientific agriculturists who has been engaged for the purpose cf giving expert advice to the farmers on such difficulties as they meet with in their farming operations, and in connection with winch they desire advice, is to bo stationed in Dunedin. Kis services will be available tor farmers in Otago and Southland, and he will be able to take up duty in about three months’ time, as soon as the necessary notice which he has to give to the Education Board, who are at present employing him, has expired.—Yours faithfully, W.
