WANTED, A MEAT MARKET.
TO TIIR EDIXOK. Sir, —Now that the powers that he have stopped the sale by auction of _ prime mutton and lamb because the premises da not comply with the by-laws, is it not, a fair proposition that suitable premises should lie provided for the public sale of perishable foods? It is stated quite freely by the man in the street that some of the -promisos at present open for the sale of meat are further away from the bylaws than the auction room which has been condemned. If this is so, why so? What id sauce for the goose should ba sauce for the gander. The working man in these bard times should be given every opportunity of reducing his cost of living. —I am etc., Best Tkott. June 50. [lnquiries Iby a ‘ Fter ’ roporto lead us to the opinion that there is 6om» ground for the statement hero made; in other wordis, that some of the shops are not in all particulars in strict conformity with the b.vdau-s. Such is our opinion. The inspectors could ray whether it is right or not. —Ed. E.S.]
