TAIERI PIPE BAND
The. Taiei'i Pipe Band finished up a very successful year with a. smoke social last evening, at which there was a good attendant*), Mr George- Gordon presiding. The animal report staled that the hand, as in t)io past, have been called upon to play at nil public and patriotic functions held in Mo.--2iel during (he year, and their services have at all limes [riven satisfacion, proving that the people of Mosgiel appreciate the efforts of the band in rendering their services when r> called upon. Tha membership of the hand is at present fairly good—namely, pipe-major, drum -major,, % six pipers, and one side-drummer. Dur- * w iiig the year the band me* on 49 nights for practice, with an average attendance of about seven, which, on the -whole, i? fairly good. In the mouth of Septembel last year our late Pipe-major J. M'Gregor resigned his position as pipe-major of the bund. Pipe-major Grant, of Dunedin, was waited upon and invited out to meet members of band and committee, _ and was unanimously ele~' ' to the position.
