ENEMY ALIENS
DEMONSTRATION IN HYDE PARK,
LLOYD GEORGE NOT AT HOME

Several thousands attended the Hyde Park demonstration for the internment of all enemy aliens. Speeches were delivered from five platforms, after which the demonstrators proceeded in procession to No. 10 Downing street. On a lorry there was a monster petition, two and a-third miles long, containing 1,250,C00 signatures. Tho lorry headed the procession, and it took four men to carry the petition into tho Prime Minister's residence. The Prime Minister's private secretary received it, owing to Mr lioyd George weekending in the country. The principal speakers at the Hyde Park demonstrations were Brig.-general Page Croft, M.P., Mr Leo J. Maxse (editor of the ' National Raview ') ! and Mr G. J. Jenkins. The demonstration passed a resolution expressing their dismay that Mr Lloyd George had been unable to receive the deputation end the petition.
