IMPROVED PROSPECTS IN CAXTERFROST AND BRIGHT SUNSHINE. ELECTRIC SUPPLY STILL OFF. [Per United Pbess Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, July 4. The weather lias greatly improved today. Frost overnight was followed by bright sunshine, winch should soon clear the snow plains. Tlid Telegraph Department has notion;; fresh to report, communication with tlio north being still suspended. The position in regard to the railway service is slightly better. The Methven lino is clear, but the Whiteclills line and Waikari to Culvevdan are still blocked. The train tor the West Coast kit this morning, preceded by a work-gang train to clear the track. The city electrical supply is not yet restored. A man went out last night, attempting to get to Lake Coleridge on a ski, and a second man went this morning, but no news has been received from «he power-house.
