AT ZEEBRUGCE.
HOTTER THAN GALLIPOLI WHILE ST LASTED. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. Reuter’s Telegrams. ■ LONDON, April 24. (Received April 25, at 1.20 p.m.) Tho newspapers pay not merely a tribute to the initiative, a-eso-urco, and daring displayed in the raid, but 'to the elaborate preparations, including rehearsals for weeks. The men state that during the hour they were ashore at Zoebrugge they war© subject to a terrific niach.mo-gun fire, which they returned with interest. A Gallipoli veteran said that while it Lusted' it was much hotter than tho Dardanelles landing. When the men returned to tho cruiser Vindictive they found her decks 'torn up by the enemy’s fire, and few of her crew escaped injury. Experts believe that tho result® will be of paramount importance, not merely on account of sealing up 'the Zeebniggo hornets’ nest, but probably because the raid ia connected with a contemplated! greater operation.
