SPOTTING
DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB'S RACES. [By Old Identity.] The heavy and continuous rain that fell last night has soaked tho Wingatui course. This morning water was lying on the main track about the seven-furlong mark and near tho three-furlong post. The work was on the outer circle of the main track, and it cut up a bit. By noon, however, the water had pretty well disappeared, and as Wingatui dries up fast there is.still a hope that it may not bo very heavy going on Friday, though it is bound to be soft. Abont 20 visiting horses put in an appearance this mornuig. Nearly all if not quite all tho horses engaged are now present, except Mr J. B. Reid's and the ones trained by R. M'Kay. Stirrup Cup and Lisp will be bracketed in the M'Lean Stakes, and so will Irish Briar, Punka, and Killala, so that if all start there will be only four numbers on the totalisator. In the Dunedin Gurneas Claverhouse and Gamecock will be bracketed, and if Kilmeedy starts she will be bracketed with Kilrea. Our Christchurch correspondent sends word that Master Hamilton is to run in the Maungatua Handicap the first day and in the Hurdles on tho second day. Tj. Hagerty will ride Naupata and F. Ellis will be on Jeannot in tlio hurdle races. •
