RAIN STOPS ADVANCE. GERMAN DEFENSIVE BARRAGE. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association and Reuter. LONDON, October 8. Sir Donglas Haig reports: The weather continues stormy, heavy rain falling all day. An attempted enemy advance southwards of Routel was broken by our fire. The enemy at dusk heavily barraged the greater part of tho front between Broodseyndo and Hollebeke, but no infantry actions followed. Our aviators continue their bombarding raids despite the weather. * °
