ENDING THE STRIKE
SHIPPING TO RESUME. MINERS COMING ROUND.. Press Association—By Telegraph-Copyright , Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. SYDNEY, October 7. .It is understood that the regular runnings of New Zealand steamers will be resumed in a. few days. The action of the seamen in declaring the strike ..off removes the last obstacle to a final settlement of the strike, and the decision clears the way for the other waterside unions to resume work. Preparations are being made for the resumption on Monday of shipping activities under pre-strike conditions. After, a conference between Ministers and. the miners' representatives regarding some matters still in dispute,. Mr Fuller (Acting Premier) announced that the : result was very satisfactory indeed. The representatives undertook to lay matters before the miners, and. a further conference wall be held on Wednesday to discuss the position. The Miness* Association at Broken Hill have declared the strike off. STRIKERS RESUMING WORK. MELBOURNE, October 8.
