Tho Portsmouth (Eng.) Women's Football Club recently played a match against a team of French sailors on Southsea Common before a big crowd of people. The proceeds went to the funds of tho Royal beamen's and Marines' Orphans' Home. The Frenchmen played with hands clasped behind their baeksj and their goalkeeper had one arm tucked ineide his jersey. The women wore white shorts with black and yellow striped jerseys, and proved too skilful for their opponents, whom they beat by 2 goals to 1. At half-time the. Frenchmen presented to tho winners a silver cup.
