NO WET CANTEENS
DEFENCE MINISTER WILL NOT BUDGE. [From Ode Parliamentary Reporter.] ti . WELLINGTON, October 5. “Is it the intention.of the Government to establish wet canteens in camps now that 6 o’clock closing is to come into forco?” This question was asked in the House of Representatives yesterday by Mr Fletcher, who pointed out that ■wet canteens were in accordance with t k* British Army traditions, and had been recommended by all commandants. Was it the intention of the .Government to ask a man to put off his civilian clothes, don-khald, and to deprive him of all his civilian privileges? . bir James Allen: No, sir; I have made up my mind there will be no wet canteens m camps. (Hear, hear.) ’
