CITY MISSION

. The committee of the Dunedin City Mission met on Tuesday, Mr W. T. Talboys presiding. "• The lion, treasurer reported the following . donations ;—A Lady Helper, £s;' Business Friend, £2 2s; City Merchant, £2 2s; Lady, £2 2s; Friends, £5; -Another Lady, £1 Is; City Barrister, £1 Is. Gratification was expressed with the granting by the City Council of a pans for the corporation tramcars to Mr Duncan Wright (city missionary), whoso work for over 40 years is so well known.

The Chairman read a letter addressed to the missionary from a young soldier in the trenches, who spoke gratefully of the help he received in past years from tho Bible class held in the, Arthur Street School. The members present spoke of similar instances well 1 known to them. Through the assistance of head masters and teachers another successful year of the Bible classes has been held in State schools, and will be brought to a close in November, when about 1,000 soldiers’ Testaments will be distributed among the pupils in Maori Hill, Kaikorai, Albany Street, Forbury, arid Arthur Street. In addition to visitation to many old and invalid persons, the missionary esteems it a privilege to have, assisted in Sunday and week-day meetings in Caversham Methodist Church, Roslyn Church of Christ, St. Andrew's Hall, Roslyn Band of Hope, Leith Valley, North-east Valley, Dundas Street Church, Ravensbourne Congregational Church, and Mornington Sunday School.
