At ; the Burps Hall this morning both tRe judges wore engaged, Mr Hopkins with the competitors in the musical monologue contest and Mr Gregson with the piano
In the _ musical monologue only three entrants tailed to put in an appearance, leanng 16 performers. The recalls were; iliss Bessie Thomson, (‘Lascaj, Mr J. B. In tms a maximum of ~25 points is added for musical aoccmpaniment, making tie possible total 125, There were four competitors out of five entrants in the piano solo for amateurs ‘ Hezeuianz ’ (M'Dowell). A novelty will be t,h© ladies' choir contest, which will be conducted by Mrs Harold Erovvinng. This evening’s programme also includes pn.no duet (‘Die Walkuro’), vocal solo igeutlemen, open to all), sacred solo (baritone), piano solo (‘ Hazentans j, vocal solo (aoompaniment and obbligato). Tomorrow iiviningT session includes Shakei^' f ri ean re ' tdtatioll (gentlemen), recitation (‘Elihurj. recitation (’The Village Blacksmith ), chief piano contest (‘2nd Impromptu ), and piano solo (‘ Etude Caxacterisqiic ). To-morrow afternoon the humorous recitations (girls) will b e hoard.
