PPL AUER REBUKES A CARPER
PARIS, September 20. M. Bnand, in the Chamber of Deputies, made an eloquent speech as the outcome of remarks by AI. Brizon. a Socialist, who roused the . Chamber’s anger by asking whether France had not already suffered enough, and could not now negotiate pence.
M. Bnand said ; “ Look at vonr country-. AI. Brizon. It has been violently attacked for two years. It, had tho honor to champion the right, and had stayed the Yet when its blood flows you say : ‘ Negotiate for peace.’ AVhat a challenge! A\ hat an outrage to the memory of our dead! Ten of our provinces are invaded, and old men and women and ctrildren havo been carried off. Tney await deliverance. Yet you ask for a peace which would be humiliating and dishonoring.”
The Chamber gave AI. Briand an ovation. and by, 421 votes to 25 ordered the speech to be placarded throughout France.
