Yesterday evening the Port Chalzrrrs Borough Coumnh out of 34 applicants, anpointed Mr William Jones, a soldier who returned wounded, as water officer. The balloting was restricted to, returned soldiers_ only,-of whom eight applied for tba position. Mr P. Hally, a member of the Board ol Trade, left for Wellington this morning.
