BOTTLE O!
£3OO WORTH IN HAND
AND MORE TO COME
So thorough has been the search for empty bottles by the school children of Dunedin and suburbs that " Nothing to-day!" must be the greeting invariably met with by the professional bottle gatherer during the present month. But he_ will come to his own again, and will have the satisfaction of knowing that his loss has been, the gain of our unfortunate allies, the Belgians. Sorters are still hard at work at tho depot, and it is estimated that up to this morning 40,000 bottles of all kinds have been sorted. In addition to this, another 10,000 or 12.000 are on the floors ready to be handled. Altogether this represents about £3OO worth ■of bottles—a wonderful result for a little over a fortnight's work. And there are more to come; many more. So that the various kinds of medicine bottles will be thoroughly examined and sorted, Messrs Kempthorne, Prosse-r have kindly consented to allow Mr Stark, who is well known to druggists, to supervise the work. It has been suggested that offices might be searched for large-size ink bottles. Theso can be easily disposed of, and would bo a welcome addition to tho collection on sale day.
The New Zealand Express Company and the Tilbury Carrying Company have notified that they also will bo pleased to do any carting required free of charge. Teachers or any members of the public interested are cordially invited to look in at the depot (corner of Bond and Police streets) on Saturday morning and view tho wonderful array of bottles already collected.
