RETURNED SOLDIERS* DUE
PERTH, April 18. (Received April 18, at 9.25 a.m.) Speaking at the patriotic carnival, the Premier of Westralia (Mr Scad dan) expressed the opinion that nothing but taxation would ensure that returned soldiers would not be neglected.

SYDNEY, April 17. The taking of evidence in the petrol inquiryhas closed. The addresses of counsel will be delivered on Thursday.
DOMESTIC TRAGEDY,
SYDNEY, April 17. A man named Gerard Fondaberry and his wife attended a party at the residence of his daughter last night. The daughter went to her parents' residence, this morning and found that both had been shot in the head.
Recent statements made by Fondaberry indicate that jealousy had given him cause for a premeditated "tragedy.

SYDNEY, April 17. Tho La.bor League portion of tho Hon. Mr Cann's Broken Hill constituents carpeted him in connection with his action over tho recent Darling Harbor strike. After hearing the Minister's explanation, they passed a condemnatory resolution, repudiating his sentiments.
