CHURCH SERVICES

The 37th anniversary of the ministry of the Rev. Dr Waddell in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church was celebrated yesterday. The morning service was conducted by the Rev. A. C Randerson, and Dr Waddell was the evening preacher. He took as his subject ' After Thirty-seven Years: A Confession of Faith.' Ho outlined the reasoning by which he had "fought his doubts and laid them low," and reached absolute conviction as to the divinity and lordship of Jesus Christ. Chap-lain-captain J. W. Shaw, who returned from Egypt by the Maheno, conducted the opening part of the service. Special numbers _by the choir, under Mr G. W. Johnstone, were much appreciated. Harvest festival services were conducted at Trinity Methodist Church yesterday by the Rev. P. Knight, of Christchurch, and in the evening there was a very large congregation. The church was decorated with Bowers, fruits, and corn. Special music was rendered by the choir, under Mr W. Gemmell, Miss Hartley presiding at the organ. Mr Knight will lecture to-night at Trinity Church on 'The Idylls of the King,' his address being illustrated by a number of lantern slides. Harvest festival services wero conducted at the Mornington Presbyterian Church yesterday. There w T as a good congregation in the morning, and again in the evening. The Rev. W. Trotter preached suitable sermons, and a largely augmented choir rendered a programme of anthems, solos, etc
