AN APPLE CAMPAIGN

SUGGESTION FROM NELSON,

[Per. United Pnr.ss Association.]

XI-'LSON, April 13. .the serious position in regard to the Nelson apple, crop, owing to the shortage of tonnage preventing shipment to outside markets, has been emphasised bv the 'Evening Mail.' which tiroes a national ■apple campaign to popularise the king of fruits.

Mr IT. G. Hill brought the matter-un-officially before the Board of Trade, suggesting a campaign to supply all parts of the Dominion at a, cheap rate". If required the Board of Trade will take evidence here, and a request will probably be made by the Fruitgrowers' Association. It is believed the idea of a national campaign would catch on if the Government gave assistance in the way of cheap railway rates and the shipping companies arranged cheap freights. The Board of Trade proceeded to Wellintgon to-day.
