' CITY POLICE COURT. •'Before H. Y. Widdowson. Ksq., S.M.) Drunkenness.—Two first offenders were each fined 10s or 24 hours'. A third was fined 5s or 24 hours'. By-law Cases.—Andrew Stuart was charged with placing an obstruction in Millington street, and was fined 10s and costs. Thomas Collins, charged with driving a vehicle at a walking pace abreast of another, was fined ss, without costs. For riding a motor car over a crossing at a speed greater than four miles an hour, Joseph Doherty was fined 10s and costs. For driving a motor car at a rate faster 'than a reasonable speed, Kennedy Brown -Ferguson was similarly dealt with. The Law Practitioners' Act.—Daniel Douglas Macdonald was charged that, being a solicitor in practice during the year ended 31st March, 1915, he did fail to cause his trust account for that year to be audited by a qualified accountant within three months after the end of that year. Henry Baron was similarly charged.—On the application of Mr W. C. MacGregor, K.C., who appeared for the Crown, the cases were adjourned for a fortnight. Theft.—John Barrett, on remand, was charged with stealing two pairs of trousers, valued at 15s, the property of -Lydia Boddy. He was also charged with stealing a pair of boots, valued at 7s 6d, the property of the same complainant.—

Accused, who is at present an inmate o; the Hospital, was remanded for a week. The Defence Act,—For failing to register under the Defence Act, Alfreu Stockdale was fined 40s and costs.
