ALONG THE TIGRIS.
LONDON, February 28. The War Office notifies that the officer commanding in Mesopotamia reports: General Aylmer bombarded the enemy on the left bank of the Tigris on February 22. The enemy were surprised, and lost heavily. Our aeroplanes obtained useful .information, and we attacked with a small punitive column four miles north of NasTineh. The enemy fled, suffering severely, our losses being nil. General Aylmer continued his operations next day in order to secure a forward position on the • right bank of the river, his object being to bring his reverse fire upon the enemy's position at Hannah. On February 25 two British aeroplanes flew up from Basra to General Aylmer with information that the river was rising, and a flood was expected. A second disturbance .was reported between the Turkish troops and the population. A news telegram, dated February 26, states: "We effectively • bombarded the enemy's camp at Hannah."
